One of my FB followers, Othniel Carbajal, asked why south Texas? As a mariner it's a simple question with proximity of gulf shallow waters. Look at how the oil industry has raped and pillaged for decades due to the shallow gulf coast shelf to anchor the oil rigs. Elon's team is looking into the L shape platforms such as the oil rigs success, for future every day elevator money maker hops and deep space launches. Not just here, but globally, where ever coastal shelfs can be stratigiclly located, near Paris or London and throughout the world to make space ports economical he said. Elon talked to me about them on September 28th. He called the off shore oil industry style rigs the L Platforms accessible by fast boat. As a mariner I asked if you mean Hydro foil or fast ferry style? YES YES and talked another 10 minutes or so about offshore safety and easy developments. I see all of the LRGValley, maybe up to Corpus Christi, being offshore Space ports for global spaceport competitors. Now with Offshore shelf availabilities developed by the oil industries, the Brownsville ship canal is taking up the challenge, along with AmFel to meet expansion.
Watch for technology to convert oil rig construction for space port launch and landings. There will be far reaching pierheads that's possible with extensions of road beds such as Texas 4.
Watch for development onshore also. Like huge tracts being offered low ball buyouts or threatened with eminent domain like the tip of texas was with a whole village and our home.
This will be a whole chapter in my book, as I was visited a year ago by hired investigators for investors by space x. I discussed this offshore concept in depth as it is the only available concept on this coastal soil.
Elon also discussed heavy population being in the way of launches. Offshore in gulf shallows are the place to be, still haveing advantage of being so close to equator. (That dogleg around Cuba wasn't discussed.) Elon said that is what the problem on our east coast is, population.
I asked him to clarify misconception of how Brownsville was chosen. (Remember excuses for tax forgiveness to lure Elon?)
Elon picked Brownsville not Cameron County or the Feathered Capped economic Developer, and land grabbers.
So how do county officials take away your voice at the table and develop space corps, that are charged with legally eminent domaining huge swaths of now and future coastal villages and towns and maybe parts of cities as competitors want a seat at the financial table?
Cameron county had no transparency and misled Brownsville leading us to think they wooed Elon into Brownsville. Elon set us all streight on how he picked Brownsville.
I see all of the LRGV in 30 years having huge spaceport companies taking more coastal properties and developing offshore space facilities.
Good jobs yes, but corporate shadows are lured by elected officials ability to hide behind lack of transparency or voice, low wages, and worst is the unneeded tax forgiveness. That saddens me.
We must change eminent domain laws and corporate shadows must take care of the displaced with FULL TRANSPERANCY and respect. County officials and bylaws need reforms and investigated by Texas Legislators on how the hammer came down in just days to us, the Pointers. Freedom of information act might be needed as we discover more and more daily as Cameron County officials continue.
Are we giving away the earth to colonize mars for the few that go?The FAA runs to catch up, and Enviromental impact statements are impossible for me to find or have comment time, the stewards of the land, Fish and Wildlife are not even called when the fires rage.
We love what space tech is doing, carry on. But space port developers will happen all down the coast so reform with all in charge is needed asap. As Elon said in his closing statement for moving forward in space development, I say same in clearing the path for development and respecting the human race, and that is...'we should do it now'.
