Amateur astrophotographer of month (AAM)

Hallo all,
My name is Pavel Pintr and I am amateur astrophotographer from Czech Republic and leader of new project AAM in the Czech Republic.

Before 2 years I with 2 people started new project (competition) Amateur astrophotographer of month. Before 4 months we upgraded our competition and now we have completly new astrogallery. People are sending astrophotos in to this new gallery and after registration people can also use rating system for these photos. Each month we have one winner with best public rating. This winners are at our internet pages with comments.

Now we would like to find next people with another countries which interested in this project. Now I would like to ask you (Russia astrophotographers) if you interested on this project. Idea is to create one big competition where people from Europe could send astrophotos and we can compete together between countries. One big Europian gallery where people could send astrophotos! To this date we have these members for future project Slavic European astrophoto competition:
Czech Republic,
Slovakia
Slovenia
Croatia (in progress)

Now we would like to find 2 moderators from your country. These moderators will moderate in your language this competition in your country at your astroforum. You can have your gallery or you can start to use our and into this gallery you will send your photos. At the end of each month you will have winner and this photo will compete with another photos from another countries in gallery of best winners.

We think, this is first step to create great amateur Slavic astrophoto project in Europe.

Amateur astrophotographer is working for 2 years in the Czech Republic. Our idea is not only to win (to have only one winner), but astrophotographers can compare these astrophotos, they can know, which post-processing public likes and dislikes and also this competition increase frendly relationship (people is cooperating together for mosaic...).

As you know each month we have one winner. Photos have to not be older than 2 months. This is really good for beginners, because chance is increasing for win (we prefere only actual photos)!

We really would like to cooperate with you. Our basic idea is, that you will have "close" competition. It means, that people only from Russia can send photos to your competition. Winner of your country will go to another gallery, where will be winners from each countries. And public should start voting for best winner from Europe.

What will be very nice, if some person from CZ will start cooperation for mosaic with person from Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia and Russia. Why not? I would like to have friends from another countries! I would like to compare conditions for astrophoto with more people!

We are glad to say you that we already have a set of monthly and yearly astrophoto contests on our forum.
Scince the 2010 we have 3 contests each month divided into 3 categories:
- Deep sky and comets
- Solar system without comets
- Astonomical landscapes

And at the end of every yeasr we have a yearly contest consisting of the winners of the monthly contests.

The topics with the voting icon contains the voting results and the winner is clearly visible.

As far as I can understand, you want to organize a Slavic astrophoto competition but there is a strictly rule on this forum that prohibits us to make any differences based on nationality. So we have a members from different countries from all over the world (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Litva, Germany, USA, Australia ....).

We will not take part in your competition if it is going to be strictly "Slavic" because we will not be able and not going to check the nationality and religion of any author.

So, I suggest to change the name of the competiton to Eastern Europe Contest for example or any other that is not directly points to the nationality.

I don´t know, that you are representing here next nationalities. It is for me great, that we can make competition more open! I will be really glad, if we will start together with many nationalities not only Slavic! We would like to welcome in future all nationalities! For our hobby there are not borders!

Ok, Can I understand, that if we will prepare our competition, you will support us? It will be great if we will have one person, who will be moderator for our competiton in your language. Now we will start to prepare any rules and our gallery.

Дело в том, что выдвигать работы с нашего конкурса ни их конкурс у меня никакого времени не хватит, а ведь еще у каждого автора надо разрешение спрашивать...

Вообще-то общепринятая практика такова: победитель национального конкурса выдвигается на международный. Можно по одной-две работы из каждой номинации выдвигать автоматом. Испрашивать согласия не надо. Прописать это в правилах конкурса и дело с концом.
Ну а если кто желает в частном порядке тоже, пожалуйста.

Dear all,

yesterday we had telephone conference and our decisions are:

a) the name of our contest will be AAM (Amateur astrophotographer of month). This is good name and with this name we started to discuss also in anothers forums in Slovenia, Croatia. This name is not depending at nationality (according discussions at your forum, you would like to have open contest for all nationalities)

b) We will use one gallery for all pictures from all nationalities. Reason is, that Croatia and Slovenia has not winner of competition each month and it will be difficult to start our contest only with winner from each country. We will use one gallery and people from another countries could use our gallery. We don´t know, how many people will start our contest.

Now we prepared any words for you about AAM contest with rules:


We are coming together with an amateur astronomers in last years,
which produce great astrophotos or create interesting videos because
these people would like to warm the heart, please someone, increase
a quality of astrophotos more and more...

We would like to express respect for amateur work and according this
we have established this contest where we don´t find only winner,
but we would like to compare also photos, warm the heart for
beauty of night sky....

We welcome also work of beginning authors!

RULES:

- Work (photo) should not be older than 2 months (for round of April
your photo must be provide from 1. March to 31. April)

- Author is registering in to public gallery (FAQ) and author is
loading pictures alone

- each monthly round is starting first day of each month (For April
round is starting on April 1) and each monthly round is finishing
last day of each month at 24:00 SEČ/SELČ

- maximum format of photos  is 2048 px (we recommend no higher format than 1500 px and 1 MB for pictures, size of animations could be higher)

- all pasted photos are displaying in public gallery after uploading, please check information about your picture (format photo information)

- registered users can use rating system from 1 to 10 stars (10 stars = the best)

- minimum number of votes for starting AAM contest are 10 votes. After 10 votes, your photo is between TOP RATED photos and order is calculating according arithmetical term of average.

- winner of each month is moving into gallery for astrophoto of year. Voting for astrophoto of year is starting next year from January 1 to January 14.

- winner of each month will be published at our internet pages with description


Now we would like to prepare multilanguage internet pages for AAM, we would like prepare our gallery.

AAM contest will start from APRIL 2011!!!!!

Is there someone, who would like to translate our rules into russia language? We would like to create one internet pages in your language (rules and FAQ)

b) Мы будем использовать нашу галерею для всех участников. Дело в том что Хорватские и Словенкие конкурсы не имеют победителей месяца и будет сложно начинать конкурс с победителей. Все будет проводиться в единой галерее. Мы не представляем пока - сколько будет участников.

Так же у нас есть несколько слов о правилах конкурса AAM:

Вместе мы пришли к выводу что конкурс подогреет интерес к астрофото, повысит качество работ и так далее...

Мы хотим выразить признательность всем авторам и поэтому учреждаем конкурс где не только будет выбираться победитель, но и проводится сравнение работ, что подогреет интерес к ночному небу.

Мы так же приветствуем работы начинающих авторов!

Правила:

- Работа должна быть не старше 2-х месяцев (например, для Апрельского конкурса, работа должна быть снята|обработана|выставлена (здесь я и сам не понял) с 1 марта по 30 апреля)

- Автор регистрируется в галерее и размещает работу самостоятельно.

- Каждый тур начинается в первый и заканчивается в последний день месяца в полночь по времени SEČ/SELČ (кто бы еще сказал, сколько это в UT).

- Максимальный размер по большей стороне - 2048 пиксел (рекомендуется не более 1500 пиксел и 1 МБ, анимации могут быть более объемными)

- Все прошедшие работы отображаются в галерее, пожалуйста, проверяйте, что загрузилось.

- Зарегистрированные пользователи могут оченивать работы от 1 до 10 (10-лучшее)

- Минимальное число голосов для запуска конкурса равно 10. После 10 голосов Ваша работа помещается в раздел Top Rated в порядке среденго арифметического числа набранных баллов.

- Победитель каждого месяца перемещается в галерею Астрофото Года. Голосование за годовые работы проходит с 1 по 14 января.

- Победитель каждого месяца будет размещен на наших страницах с описаниями.

Сейчас мы хотим подготовить многоязычную версию наших страниц конкурса и галереи.
Конкурс AAM начнется в Апреле 2011!!!!!

The photo should be captured or processed or submitted between 1. March to 30. April (there is no 31 Apr )

May be UT will be better? I don't know about the difference of the SEČ/SELČ between the MSK or UT and I don't know about the dates of the daylight time switching.

Я тоже считаю, что никакого упора на "славянскость" в подобном конкурсе быть не должно.

Нам-то понятно, а вот, как выясняется, даже друзьям-братьям из "ближнего Запада" приходится объяснять, что почти все государства, образовавшиеся после распада СССР, намного более полиэтнические, чем те же Чехия, Хорватия, Словения и т.д.
